Ofcom says radio station Air 107.2 in breach of licence<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n Ofcom had noted that the station had responded to the regulator’s preliminary view acknowledging Ofcom\u2019s observations regarding the output broadcast and said that \u201cthe service was undergoing a significant operational transition”.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Mullins said: “Ofcom have been made fully aware of the situation throughout this process and have shown understanding regarding the difficulties the station faced during this transition period.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Importantly, Ofcom chose not to issue a fine relating to the breach, recognising the work being undertaken to turn the station around and restore its commitments to the community,” he noted.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Mullins also pointed out that before the current team stepped in, the station had been on the verge of closure.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Since taking over in November, Jamie Lyones, managing director of AIR, has worked tirelessly to save and rebuild the station from the ground up,” he said.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Despite the setbacks, we have continued working day and night to bring AIR back to life.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We are once again delivering community-focused content and supporting important local organisations through community drop-ins and partnerships with groups such as the Lantern Trust, Steps, and Andy\u2019s Man Club.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Mullins said that AIR 107.2 will be attending the Weymouth Community Expo on Saturday, May 16 this year to “meet new people, network, and continue supporting the local community”.\n<\/p>\n
\n AIR originally launched as a student project in 2011 at Westfield Arts College, with the name standing for \u2018all inclusive radio\u2019.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Mullins said his connection to AIR went back to the “very beginning” as he was originally a presenter when the station first started and remained part of it for around three years.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Jamie Lyones and I both strongly believe AIR should celebrate and support where we live, promoting local businesses, local talent, community groups, and the youth of today.\n<\/p>\n
