Two people have been charged after a man was assaulted in an “unprovoked attack” outside an Auckland supermarket last week.<\/p>\n
On September 19, the victim and his family were in a supermarket car park when they were approached by two people around 12.30pm. <\/p>\n
The pair allegedly assaulted the man in a “brazen” unprovoked attack, Inspector Matt Hoyes said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThese alleged offenders have viciously attacked this man in broad daylight, punching him and kicking him while he was on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hoyes said security intervened and stopped the assault before police arrived at the scene. <\/p>\n
“The victim was incredibly lucky he only suffered minor injuries,” he said.<\/p>\n
Two men were taken into custody after police searched two homes in Pukekohe.<\/p>\n
“People have a right to be safe going about their business, without having to be subjected to needless violence,” Hoyes said.<\/p>\n
“Let this be a message that this is not accepted behaviour and those engaging in it will be held to account.”<\/p>\n
