Jane said the family then moved to Coromandel, where she and her siblings grew up.<\/p>\n
Jane said her father was a \u201cvery big provider\u201d who worked non-stop for his wife and three children.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was always working, always trying to give us the very best that he could.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy whole entire life I think maybe I\u2019ve seen him not work for up to maybe a month and he hated it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Matthew eventually moved to Takapau to work as a dairy farmer.<\/p>\n
Jane said her dad was a \u201csuperhero\u201d who could fix anything.<\/p>\n
\u201cI never had to rely on anybody else because my dad was always there, because that was the kind of person that he was.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jane said she had a humble upbringing with her father, but once Matthew had grandchildren, the spoiling began.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat McDonald\u2019s money that wasn\u2019t there when I was a kid, all of a sudden there was heaps of it for his grandchildren,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n
Jane said she could talk about her father \u201cforever\u201d, much as he could talk the ear off anyone about the things he cared about.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it was his job or his cars or his mokos, because his mokos were the thing that made him the proudest.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jane said if there was a silver lining to the \u201ccompletely devastating\u201d situation, it was her dad now being able to spend time with his son \u2013 her brother \u2013 who died at two months old in the late 1990s.<\/p>\n
