The movie and webseries takes inspiration from a creepypasta originally posted on 4chan in 2019, which depicts an alternate universe made up of seemingly endless yellowing corridors (or \u201cBackrooms\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Parsons\u2019 The Backrooms webseries originally debuted in 2022, and has earned over 77 million views as of May 2026, expanding the original story with elements such as monsters and a mysterious facility investigating the phenomenon.
