\u201cFulton Hogan has been made aware of a tragic incident that occurred on a Waikato worksite earlier this morning, where a Fulton Hogan employee was fatally injured when assisting a stranded vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u201cFulton Hogan\u2019s key focus at this time is to support those affected by this tragic event and provide full assistance to authorities.<\/p>\n

A NZTA spokesperson told the Waikato Herald they were \u201cdeeply saddened and upset\u201d by the tragedy that took the life of a staffer.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cOur thoughts are with the person\u2019s family and friends at this time. Everyone deserves to be able to return home from work safely.\u201d<\/p>\n

The expressway was closed southbound from the Te Kauwhata and Rangiriri on ramps while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene. <\/p>\n

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.<\/p>\n
