Earlier this year, Apple launched<\/a> its newest iPhone privacy feature\u2014Limit Precise Location\u2014but only a few carriers supported it initially. Following iOS 26.5\u2019s launch this week, Apple now says that the feature is available for many more users.<\/p>\n \u2018Limit Precise Location\u2019 rolls out more broadly, but you still need an iPhone or iPad with Apple\u2019s C1 or C1X<\/p>\n One of the most interesting iOS additions earlier this year was a new privacy feature<\/a>: \u2018Limit Precise Location.\u2019<\/p>\n When enabled, Apple can restrict your location data, making it harder for carriers to know your precise location. Instead, carriers may only see, for example, \u201cthe neighborhood where your device is located, rather than a more precise location (such as a street address).\u201d<\/p>\n The feature requires an Apple-made cellular modem like the C1 and C1X. So it\u2019s currently limited to iPhone Air, iPhone 17e, and iPhone 16e. The M5 iPad Pro offers support too.<\/p>\n Later this year, iPhone 18 Pro<\/a> and iPhone Ultra<\/a> are both rumored to pack an Apple cellular modem\u2014the C2. So the new flagships should all support Limit Precise Location.<\/p>\n Ahead of that hardware expansion, the feature now supports more carriers too. Here\u2019s the updated list<\/a>:<\/p>\n Austria: A1<\/p>\n Denmark: YouSee<\/p>\n Germany: Telekom<\/p>\n Ireland: Sky<\/p>\n Thailand: AIS and True<\/p>\n United Kingdom: EE, BT, and Sky<\/p>\n United States: Boost Mobile<\/p>\n At launch only six carriers were on board, and now the total is 10.<\/p>\n But the expansion is actually much bigger than this list. Because while Limit Precise Location is on by default for all of these carriers, Apple also now says<\/a> that anyone in the EU or UK can choose to enable it.<\/p>\n With a SIM (physical or eSIM) from a carrier in the European Union or United Kingdom, you can turn this feature on.<\/p>\n Users can enable the feature in Settings \u21fe Cellular \u21fe Cellular Data Options \u21fe Limit Precise Location.<\/p>\n I\u2019m eager to see Limit Precise Location roll out more broadly in the US too.
