Mazda New Zealand has taken another step towards the launch of its first\u00a0pure-electric family-sized SUV<\/a>, with confirmation of specification details for the CX-6e SUV.<\/p>\n

\nSingle-motor CX-6e is rear-drive, just like an MX-5.<\/p>\n

A sister model to the 6e sedan<\/a>, the CX-6e will arrive towards the end of the year in a single luxury Takami grade. It will join another new Mazda SUV, the 3rd-generation CX-5<\/a>, in local showrooms.<\/p>\n

It’s fitted with a 78kWh LFP battery that delivers a combined WLTP range of 468km.<\/p>\n

And as with the 6e (due ahead of the SUV, in the second half of the year), the CX-6e is the product of the long-standing partnership between the Japanese company and China’s Changan Automobile.<\/p>\n

\nGiant 26in screen dominates the cabin.<\/p>\n

The 190kW\/290Nm motor drives the rear wheels. A 21-inch alloy wheel with double five-spoke design is standard for NZ models.<\/p>\n

The wheelbase is a long 2902mm. The luggage bay offers 468 litres, expanding to 1434 litres with the second row of seats folded flat. It’s complemented by an 83-litre frunk.<\/p>\n

\nPricing still unknown, but Mazda NZ is happy to take your expression of interest on its website.<\/p>\n

Mazda says the cabin environment is “focused on serenity and wellbeing”. There’s an illuminated wing-shaped strip that runs across the width of the dashboard, and the full-length insulated glass sunroof “floods the cabin in natural light”.<\/p>\n

The interior is available in “Maztex” synthetic leather, in either full black or an Oyster White and black combination.<\/p>\n

The cockpit centres on a 26-inch touchscreen frame mounted asymmetrically on the dashboard, reaching across the middle console and passenger side. Its customisable dual-split layout enables both the driver and the front passenger to access personalised information. There’s also a head-up display for the driver.<\/p>\n

The CX-6e Takami is equipped with digital side mirrors and a digital rear-view mirror as standard. The former uses compact exterior cameras that feed live video to interior OLED displays mounted in the doors.<\/p>\n

Mazda says they deliver a 30% wider field of view, offer enhanced levels of vision in low-light and adverse weather conditions and contribute to aerodynamics.<\/p>\n

The digital rear-view mirror features a 9-inch display. Drivers can still switch to the traditional glass mirror, depending on preference or driving conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
