{"id":428818,"date":"2026-05-15T10:51:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T10:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/428818\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T10:51:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T10:51:07","slug":"the-internet-is-wrong-margot-robbie-addresses-fake-rumour-about-where-she-was-born-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/428818\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018The internet is wrong\u2019: Margot Robbie addresses fake rumour about where she was born in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Margot Robbie has claimed that the internet has never correctly reported where she was actually born in Australia. <\/p>\n<p>Robbie cleared up a long-running rumour about her this week, which has been plaguing the internet for well over a decade. <\/p>\n<p>While she was raised in the little town of Dalby, despite what much of the internet claims after a quick Google, she wasn\u2019t actually born there!<\/p>\n<p>Robbie said the \u201cinternet has had my place of birth wrong the whole time\u201d in an interview with <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.magicfm.com.au\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Magic FM<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was born on the Gold Coast,\u201d insisted the Hollywood star. \u201cIt\u2019s not a stupid rumour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just amazing that this far along it\u2019s still incorrect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One quick Google search proves the Hollywood star right, with even Google\u2019s AI getting her birthplace wrong. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMargot Robbie, born in Dalby and raised on the Gold Coast, Queensland, spent her childhood on her grandparents\u2019 farm in the Currumbin Valley,\u201d says the search function.<\/p>\n<p>Discussing her upbringing back in 2016, Robbie shared more insight with <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/?srsltid=AfmBOooxRRxr3BK1NbSlEVv8SwMgenRYpSuGQXBazdmjAskZi3VvdceI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vanity Fair<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople always want to know, \u2018Did you have kangaroos outside your bedroom window?\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Yes, but none of my other friends did.\u2019 Or \u2018Did you have snakes running around?\u2019 And again, \u2018Yes, in our house, but this isn\u2019t an Australian thing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robbie has always maintained a strong bond with her childhood, staying close with all 16 of her preschool classmates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all so tight-knit,\u201d she\u00a0said of her group of mates. \u201cThey are still my best friends today. We\u2019ve known each other since preschool and we\u2019re still the best of friends, so that\u2019s an incredibly special thing. Everyone always says we\u2019ve never met a group like you. It\u2019s crazy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, speaking to The Mirror about her feelings around becoming one of the world\u2019s biggest movie stars in recent years, Robbie admitted last year that she constantly feels anxiety thinking she\u2019s just one box office disaster away from being shunned by Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs there a moment where I thought it was all sorted now? No, I think every time I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, God, it\u2019s all going to be taken away, I won\u2019t get to do this again, this is the last time\u2019,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have this complete crisis of faith every time, \u2018What am I doing?\u2019 I freak out every time.
