SightGlass\u00a0Vision has announced new clinical data showing that its\u00a0Diffusion Optics Technology (DOT)\u00a0spectacle lenses for myopia control saved\u00a0an average of\u00a0more than 1D of progression\u00a0in\u00a0children aged 6\u201310\u00a0years,\u00a0after two years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Presented\u00a0at the\u00a0ARVO 2026<\/a>\u00a0Annual Meeting, the findings build on previously reported 12-month Cathay\u00a0study data and affirm that DOT lenses with contrast management deliver strong and consistent efficacy in\u00a0Chinese children aged 6\u201310\u00a0years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Across\u00a0the full study population of patients in China aged\u00a06\u201313, the lenses slowed average myopia progression by 0.78D\u00a0(a 67% reduction)\u00a0and average axial length progression by 0.40mm\u00a0(a 62% reduction)\u00a0after two years of wear, compared with\u00a0the control group.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unlike defocus-based solutions, DOT lenses are designed to reduce retinal contrast\u00a0signalling\u00a0through the incorporation of light-scattering elements. The\u00a0Cathay<\/a>\u00a0two-year results supplement the\u00a0existing\u00a0clinical research supporting\u00a0DOT lenses\u2019 contrast-management approach for myopia control.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Additional\u00a0findings from the full study population showed that 59% of DOT lens wearers had 0.50D or less myopia progression after two years, compared with 19% of children in the control group.\u00a0The difference was\u00a0statistically significant (p<0.0001).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Building on its four-year North American\u00a0Cypress\u00a0study<\/a>,\u00a0SightGlass\u00a0Vision initiated the Cathay\u00a0trial to compare DOT lenses with conventional single-vision lenses and to evaluate their continued safety and efficacy in Chinese children across five clinical sites in China. A total of 172 myopic children aged 6\u201313 completed the second year of the study.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other research presented at ARVO 2026 further expanded the understanding of DOT lens performance and wearer experience.\u00a0\u2018Pupil\u00a0size effect on myopia progression with contrast modulation spectacle lenses\u2019\u00a0(Webley D, et al, 2026) found no significant association between pupil size and the rate of myopia progression in children wearing DOT lenses at 12 months. In addition,\u00a0\u2018Viewing\u00a0behaviour with contrast modulation spectacle lenses\u2019\u00a0(Kollbaum P, et al, 2026) showed that children\u00a0exhibited\u00a0similar viewing\u00a0behaviour\u00a0when wearing both DOT lenses and single-vision lenses across a range of daily activities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

SightGlass\u00a0Vision\u2019s DOT lenses\u00a0are available in\u00a0China, Canada, Israel,\u00a0Spain\u00a0and the UK.\u00a0Founded in 2016, the company now\u00a0operates\u00a0as a joint venture of CooperVision and Essilor International.\u00a0<\/p>\n
