10 years of SBS VICELAND will come to an end when the multichannel returns as SBS2 in August.<\/p>\n
An SBS Spokesperson tells TV Tonight, \u201cThe SBS VICELAND brand and content partnership with Vice Media will come to a close in the coming months, as SBS looks ahead to the channel\u2019s next chapter.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurther details, including branding and programming plans, will be shared later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
A deal with US-Canadian Vice Media was struck in 2016 to launch with shows such as Black Market, Gaycation, States of Undress, Weediquette, F*** That\u2019s Delicious, Cyberwar, Balls Deep alongside SBS2 titles The Feed, SBS PopAsia, A League, If You Are The One, South Park, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Brooklyn Nine Nine. Several Australian-based VICE doco titles would also screen.<\/p>\n
More recently it has been home to shows including\u00a0Icons Unearthed, The Mega-Brands That Built the World, Dark Side Of The 2000s, Raw Comedy, The Weekly Football Wrap and Digital Originals drama.<\/p>\n
In 2023 VICE Media filed for bankruptcy but was later acquired by a group of buyers from Fortress Investment Group.<\/p>\n
The return to SBS2 is understood to be a business decision linked to its targe audience aged to 35-54. and strategic\u202fobjectives.\u202f<\/p>\n
Last week SBS Board announced new CEO Jane Palfreyman.<\/p>\n
