A set of good Samaritan students did not take a slice of the pie when they found a pizza parlour\u2019s cash-filled till lying in the street.<\/p>\n
The students called police after finding the till on the ground in George St at about 10.30pm yesterday, Acting Senior Sergeant Iain Notman, of Dunedin, said.<\/p>\n
Inside was over $700 in cash.<\/p>\n
When police took the till back to the station, they discovered it had been jammed shut, which prevented the thieves from liberating the cash.<\/p>\n
Inquiries quickly led police to Sal’s Authentic New York Pizza in Great King St, Dunedin North.<\/p>\n
Officers found the glass on the front doors was smashed in and there were signs of a forced entry.<\/p>\n
The owners were called to secure the building, as well as to hand over CCTV to police.<\/p>\n
Video footage captured two persons of interest, Snr Sgt Notman said.<\/p>\n
