Mazda’s first-ever pure-electric sedan, set for Kiwi launch in spring.

It’s a week of price reveals for Mazda New Zealand<\/a>. Following on from its announcement around the 3rd-generation CX-5 SUV, it has confirmed the price of its first-ever pure-electric sedan.<\/p>\n

The Mazda 6e Takami<\/a> will sell for $58,990, with a 78kWh battery and single-motor rear-wheel drive. The motor makes 190kW\/290Nm.<\/p>\n

The powertrain delivers a combined WLTP range of 560km, with 10-80% charging on a 195kW station taking approximately 24 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Inside, there’s a “smart driver-focused cockpit” with a 14.6-inch touchscreen and 10.2-inch instrument display, complemented by an augmented reality head-up display.<\/p>\n

\nMazda in Germany has looked after the ride and roadholding.<\/p>\n

The 6e is a product of the long-standing partnership between the Japanese company and China’s Changan Automobile. It’s sold as the EZ-6 in China and is based on the platform of the Deepal [Changan’s EV brand] SL03.<\/p>\n

However, the styling is Mazda-specific and the 6e to be sold in NZ has a chassis tuned in Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the only missing piece of the Mazda NZ 2026 product puzzle is the SUV version of the 6e, the CX-6e. The company has confirmed its arrival this year, but is yet to announce pricing. But the 6e provides a further clue: presumably, the SUV will be priced just above the $59k sedan.<\/p>\n
