Fire and Emergency crews at the scene appear to be managing traffic, while efforts are made to put out the blaze. <\/p>\n

Shift manager Blair Walklin said crews received reports of the fire just before 7.20am. <\/p>\n

Walklin said 12 fire trucks are in attendance from across the city. <\/p>\n

Crews are currently working to extinguish and contain the third alarm-level fire. <\/p>\n

The blaze will affect Royal Oak Intermediate School\u2019s opening because of road closures in the area, he said. <\/p>\n

The school refused to comment when approached by the Herald. <\/p>\n

Trafalgar St is closed between Pleasant St and Forbes St, while Symonds St is closed to Aumoana Lane.<\/p>\n

Police expect cordons to be in place for most of the day. <\/p>\n

\u201cMembers of the public are advised to avoid the area while emergency services work at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
