In 2010, Reedy became the University of Waikato\u2019s first M\u0101ori Emeritus Professor and was appointed to the Waitangi Tribunal that same year.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post, Reedy\u2019s family announced his death and upcoming service arrangements for his tangihanga. <\/p>\n
Tributes and expressions of grief have also come from the Kiingitanga and Te P\u0101ti M\u0101ori among others. <\/p>\n
Reedy and wife Kahurangi Tilly Reedy were both Ng\u0101ti Porou, and have eight children together. They are both celebrated for their contribution to M\u0101ori education and k\u014dhanga reo.<\/p>\n
As well as a former rugby representative, Reedy had a deep involvement with the Aotearoa M\u0101ori Tennis Association. <\/p>\n
In 2007, he and Lady Tilly Reedy donated funds to establish the Ng\u0101 Purapura Trust to provide financial assistance to outstanding M\u0101ori tennis players.<\/p>\n
At the time of his investiture in 2011, M\u0101ori Affairs Minister Dr Pita Sharples said Reedy had combined \u201cthe strength of a rural Ng\u0101ti Porou East Coast background with an outstanding academic career, which he has devoted to the advancement of M\u0101ori in education, public administration, iwi development and M\u0101ori-Crown relationships.<\/p>\n
