The trust said its M\u0101ori-led collective impact model brings together technical mapping, policy development, local w\u0101nanga, practical on-the-ground projects and strategic advocacy into one co-ordinated system to support the future of sheep and beef farming in the region.<\/p>\n

Chief executive Hilton Collier, who was appointed last year, said the award was recognition of the collective effort happening across Te Tair\u0101whiti.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis award belongs to our people, our wh\u0101nau and the many hands across the region who have committed themselves to the future of our whenua and communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTair\u0101whiti Whenua members are working together to achieve higher value from our best lands while we work to protect our erosion-prone hill country. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe work happening across our membership and wider community is critical to helping landowners navigate change, strengthen resilience and create long-term opportunities for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n

B+LNZ judges<\/a> described Tair\u0101whiti Whenua as \u201can impressive example of collaboration and leadership delivering multiple tangible results for rural communities\u201d.<\/p>\n

They said the organisation \u201cdemonstrated innovation at a grand scale\u201d and \u201cgenerated fantastic economic, environmental and social benefits\u201d.<\/p>\n

Collier said the recognition reflected the strength of collective action and kaupapa M\u0101ori leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not just about farming innovation.
