At I\/O 2026, Google Wallet quietly announced and completed its big Android redesign. There are also new features<\/a> for Google Pay and Wallet developers that end users will soon encounter.<\/p>\n

Officially, this redesign provides \u201cdynamic quick access to your favorites\u201d on the new homepage. Google highlights how boarding passes and other time-sensitive content have a \u201cnew updated visual design\u201d that spans your entire screen. Finally, the \u201cView more\u201d FAB (floating action button) serves as a \u201ccomprehensive, highly searchable hub for everything in Wallet, including detailed transaction information.\u201d<\/p>\n

After slowly rolling out in recent weeks<\/a>, the redesign should now be fully available for all Android users. Google also acknowledged Live Updates<\/a> for flights and event tickets that can be used to \u201calert users to any urgent, time-sensitive changes.\u201d<\/p>\n

For developers, Google Wallet is getting a \u201cdedicated API that will allow you to share digital receipts directly into Google Wallet.\u201d<\/p>\n

This will enable you to keep your customers informed and significantly reduce support friction throughout the post-purchase lifecycle.<\/p>\n

Also of note is \u201ccontactless loyalty enrollment\u201d where users get a notification after tapping that invites them to join a loyalty program if they haven\u2019t previously signed up.<\/p>\n

Google also provided a look at how Uber and Intuit (TurboTax) are using digital ID verification to \u201csecurely request the user to share the specific attributes of their ID as needed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, there\u2019s \u201cCross-device Payment Verification for Google Pay.\u201d Aimed at desktop purchases, customers can \u201ccomplete online transactions seamlessly and securely using Google Pay Device Tokens.\u201d It\u2019s an alternative to \u201cone-time passwords and additional redirects that can disrupt the checkout flow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2026desktop users will be prompted to authenticate on their mobile device using a secure push notification or by scanning a QR code.<\/p>\n

They can then approve the payment by unlocking their phone using a biometric, such as face unlock, a fingerprint, or a PIN on their trusted Android device.<\/p>\n

This helps \u201caddress MFA and regional requirements like the EU and UK\u2019s Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n
