Jobseekers across Tendring explored new career paths through F1 car tyre changing, CPR demonstrations, and even climbing a virtual wind turbine at this year\u2019s Tendring Jobs and Skills Fair. <\/p>\n
Held at the Princes Theatre in Clacton on 25 September, the lively event brought together residents, employers, and training providers for a hands-on showcase of opportunities designed to inspire and connect the local workforce.<\/p>\n
Organised by TDC in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (Jobcentre Plus), the fair is a flagship event of the Tendring4Growth Business Fortnight.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s edition welcomed around 1,000 attendees, who explored a wide range of exhibitors representing diverse industries and pathways into employment.<\/p>\n
Visitors were encouraged to \u2018try before they apply\u2019 through interactive experiences, including CPR demonstrations, cooking tasters, and a virtual reality climb of an offshore wind turbine\u2014offering a real-world glimpse into the skills and environments of key sectors.<\/p>\n
The event continues to deliver real results for both jobseekers and employers. Brightlingsea Harbour, for example, has hired someone from the Jobs and Skills Fair for the last four years. <\/p>\n
At last year\u2019s event, they met Millie, whose enthusiasm and attitude impressed Deputy Harbour Master Owen Evans. Although there were no vacancies at the time, Millie made such a strong impression that she was later offered a full-time role as an administrative assistant.<\/p>\n
Millie said: \u201cThe role at Brightlingsea Harbour looked very different to anything I\u2019d done before, but I wanted to learn more \u2013 and I\u2019m really enjoying it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Owen Evans, Deputy Harbour Master at Brightlingsea Harbour added: \u201cWe\u2019ve had great success hiring through the Jobs and Skills Fair over the years. Millie stood out immediately, and we\u2019re delighted to have her on the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Councillor Ivan Henderson, TDC Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism, praised the event\u2019s impact: \u201cIt\u2019s inspiring to see so many people engaging with new opportunities and discovering what\u2019s possible for their future.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019Events like this are about more than just jobs\u2014they\u2019re about raising aspirations and helping people realise their potential, just like Millie has done, which is at the heart of our vision for Tendring. We want to build a district where everyone feels empowered to grow, learn and succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Tendring4Growth Business Fortnight continues with a series of free events tailored to business owners, including sessions focused on supporting start-ups and building tomorrow\u2019s town centres.<\/p>\n
