A man in his 90s has been medically forbidden to drive after running red lights, mounting the kerb and travelling the wrong way on Dunedin streets.<\/p>\n
Police received a call from a member of the public about a vehicle driving poorly in central Dunedin about noon on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The vehicle reportedly went the wrong way around a roundabout, was mounting the kerb and running red lights, Acting Senior Sergeant Iain Notman, of Dunedin, said.<\/p>\n
Police found the vehicle in Moray Pl.<\/p>\n
The driver did not acknowledge police, who were both in front of and behind the vehicle, when they activated their flashing lights and sirens.<\/p>\n
Police then boxed the vehicle in once it stopped at some traffic lights, Acting Snr Sgt Notman said.<\/p>\n
“The 93-year-old male driver was assessed by ambulance and transported to hospital and has been medically forbidden to drive.”<\/p>\n
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they sent one ambulance to the scene.<\/p>\n
They treated one patient who was transported to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
