Takpa Gallery is presenting \u2018Witnesses of Inner Worlds\u2019, a solo exhibition of paintings and sculpture by Min Thapa, until June 6. The show brings together 21 works rendered in a neo-impressionist pointillist style, visualised as dots and strokes of yellow, pink, purple, and blue.<\/p>\n
Thapa, a visual artist from Nepal, completed his Master\u2019s Degree in Fine Arts from the Central Department of Fine Arts, TU, Nepal. With over 20 years of experience in the art world, he now works as a freelance artist.<\/p>\n
The exhibition explores the parent-child dynamic, embracing the affection and sacrifice embedded in this relationship. The artist, drawing on his own experiences growing up, observes the silent struggles of parents who face many hurdles in providing a better future for their children. <\/p>\n
\u201cIn the paintings, I follow the perceptions of love and sacrifice made by parents for their children,\u201d says Thapa. \u201cI also imply the Neo-impressionist optical colour effects in the paintings.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thapa\u2019s paintings, which began in 2011, are strongly influenced by this European movement. Furthermore, he adds that his emotions are articulated through the vibrant colours. Blue for calmness, green for overwhelming thoughts, yellow for hope and pink for pleasure.<\/p>\n
In Thapa\u2019s paintings, parents wish to fashion their children as superheroes\u2014explorers of worlds unreachable to them. To the children, the world is secure, vibrant and joyous. Yet, images of childhood bliss and familial love are contrasted with reminders of daily needs and scarcities around them. <\/p>\n
Thapa chooses to dignify the unexpressed resilience of familial love by celebrating everyday joys and aspirations. The works transform stories of hardship into portraits of affection and fortitude. They are witnesses to the inner worlds of people who expand the horizons of those who come after them.<\/p>\n
Twenty of Thapa\u2019s paintings and one sculpture are presented in the exhibition, which were prepared in the span of three years, ranging from 2024 to 2026. <\/p>\n
