The staff\u00a0for the television anime<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Satsuki Nakamura<\/a>‘s\u00a0Though I Am an Inept Villainess<\/a>\u00a0(Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga – S\u016bg\u016b Ch\u014dso Torikae Den) light novel series revealed a new visual and the show’s July 12 debut on Monday.<\/p>\n

The anime’s premiere was delayed<\/a>\u00a0to July due to delays in production progress. The anime\u00a0was initially announced to\u00a0premiere<\/a>\u00a0in April.<\/p>\n

Crunchyroll<\/a> will stream<\/a> the anime as it airs in\u00a0North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and the Indian Subcontinent.<\/p>\n

Mitsue Yamazaki<\/a> (How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?<\/a>, Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun<\/a>) is directing the anime at\u00a0D\u014dga K\u014db\u014d<\/a>.\u00a0Yoshiko Nakamura<\/a>\u00a0(Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time<\/a>;\u00a0Tadaima, Okaeri<\/a>;\u00a0The Helpful Fox Senko-san<\/a>) is overseeing the series scripts, and\u00a0Ai Kikuchi<\/a>\u00a0(How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?, New Game!<\/a>, Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie<\/a>) is designing the characters.<\/p>\n

Ichijinsha<\/a> launched Nakamura’s light novel series with illustrations by YukiKana<\/a> in December 2020. The novels’ manga adaptation by Ei Ohitsuji<\/a> simultaneously launched in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Zero-Sum<\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n

Seven Seas<\/a> publishes<\/a> both the light novels and manga under the title Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court<\/a>, and describes the story:<\/p>\n

In a kingdom inspired by historical China, five clans put forth their maidens as imperial consorts\u2013but only one will be crowned empress. The frail and beautiful Kou Reirin, the so-called \u201cbutterfly\u201d of the imperial court, is a shoo-in to marry the crown prince. Ichijinsha published the light novels’ 12th volume on March 31. Seven Seas released the light novels’ 10th volume in English on May 5, and released the manga’s eighth volume on December 16.<\/p>\n
