The Hollywood actor wore a bright orange New York Knicks hoodie, blue tracksuit pants and green trainers with purple laces, looking more like he had popped out for a pint of milk or to walk the dog. <\/p>\n
Backlash on social media was swift, with many criticising the star for not making an effort and \u201cembarrassing\u201d his wife. <\/p>\n
\u201cCan\u2019t he at least wear a shirt and pants for his wife\u2019s event?\u201d commented one.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so thoughtless and embarrassing,\u201d said another, while a third wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s like a six-year-old throwing a tantrum about not wanting to wear a suit.\u201d<\/p>\n
A fourth added: \u201cThis is so embarrassing for his wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, others jumped to his defence, with one remarking: \u201cFor Adam Sandler, this is as formal as a suit! His comfortable style should be respected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sandler, who was spotted at a burger joint back in January<\/a>, has previously commented on his wife\u2019s opinion of his style, saying that she\u2019s the first to jump to his defence. <\/p>\n He told Variety<\/a>: \u201cMy wife has always been lenient about my clothes. When people around us would say, \u2018Your wife dresses so nicely, why don\u2019t you dress better?\u2019 she would always defend me, saying, \u2018He\u2019s comfortable like this. Just leave him be.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, Sandler opened up about his dislike for formal wear, telling Entertainment Tonight<\/a> that he was unhappy with being forced to wear suits during the press tour for Jay Kelly: <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been horrendous,\u201d he joked. \u201cI don\u2019t like the feeling. I think I only have three different suits and one of them I don\u2019t even like.
