This month, the cable network brings Interview With The Vampire back as The Vampire Lestat. Hulu also gives in to complicated relationships (in comedies) with a new series from Mindy Kaling and a British sitcom. Elsewhere, Apple TV serves up a star-studded Cape Fear series, FX’s The Bear clocks in for a final shift, and HBO goes all in on both Larry David and House Of The Dragon once more. Here is The A.V. Club’s guide to what to watch on TV next month.

After YA comedies Never Have I Ever and The Sex Lives Of College Girls (and, what the heck, Velma), creator Mindy Kaling graduates to the twentysomething-in-New-York-City territory. In Not Suitable For Work, Ella Hunt and Avantika play roommates who befriend a trio of men living next door. Together, the fivesome navigates the trials and tribulations of being employed, hot, and single in Manhattan. Jay Ellis, Ego Nwodim, and Constance Wu co-star in the Hulu series. [Saloni Gajjar]

Nearly 20 years after he played one of the most terrifying villains to ever saunter off the page and onto the screen (and won an Oscar for it, too), Javier Bardem slips on the tattoos and jaunty little hat of another: Max Cady, the ex-con who stalked his way through John D. MacDonald’s The Executioners and its pair of big-screen adaptations under the title Cape Fear. The question isn’t so much if Bardem can top Robert Mitchum and Robert De Niro’s portrayal of the legal-loophole-loving sadist, but whether or not this 10-part Apple TV series can swipe the title of TV’s definitive take on Cape Fear from Sideshow Bob and his dozens of rakes. [Erik Adams]

Interview With The Vampire is changing its name to The Vampire Lestat for season three, but the toxic romance between Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat (Sam Reid) remains the same. In the seven new episodes, Lestat takes the mic not just as a rockstar, but also to give journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) his side of the story that Louis has been narrating for the past two seasons. TVL will feature original songs by composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid. [Saloni Gajjar]

Alice And Steve (Hulu, June 8)

In the wake of Rivals season two, Hulu moves further into its age-gap romance era with Alice & Steve. In this U.K. original, Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement star as the titular lifelong BFFs whose relationship is in turmoil because he starts dating her 26-year-old daughter, Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). They’ve seen each other through terrible decision-making before, but the show follows Alice and Steve as they figure out whether their rock-solid friendship can survive this crisis. [Saloni Gajjar]

The Listeners (Starz, June 12)

Based on Jordan Tannahill’s novel of the same name and directed by Janicza Bravo, psychological thriller The Listeners centers on English teacher Claire Kutty (Rebecca Hall), who can suddenly hear a low but persistent hum that no one else can, except for one of her students. This sound triggers a series of medical conditions that have no rational explanation, forcing Claire to investigate why they’re the only two people who are seemingly impacted by this phenomenon. [Saloni Gajjar]

I Will Find You (Netflix, June 18)

Netflix soldiers on with yet another Harlan Coben adaptation: the aptly titled I Will Find You, based on his 2023 novel. David Burroughs (Sam Worthington) was wrongfully convicted of murdering his son, only to learn that his kid might actually be alive. As David breaks out of prison to go on a truth-finding mission, he embroils his loved ones in a criminal conspiracy. The cast includes Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, Erin Richards, and Clancy Brown. [Saloni Gajjar]

House Of The Dragon season three (HBO, June 21)

A bloody war is coming in House Of The Dragon‘s third season, which picks up just before the Greens and the Blacks engage in the Battle Of The Gullet, one of the deadliest sea battles in Westerosi history. Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) makes a violent bid for the Iron Throne, but as glimpsed by her weeping in the trailer, she will likely have to pay a heavy price. Meanwhile, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) deals with the fallout of trying to make a deal with her former BFF, and Daemon’s (Matt Smith) visions of the future lead him down a different path than his wife/niece/queen. [Saloni Gajjar]

The Bear season five (FX, June 25)

Last month, a surprise one-off flashback pulled FX’s high-strung culinary dramedy out of hibernation and into what appeared to be a cliffhanger for its now-confirmed final season. But that’d be a cliffhanger on top of another cliffhanger, thanks to a fourth-season finale that saw Carmy (Jeremy Allan White) hang up his chef’s coat and leave The Bear in the hands of Syd (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Natalie (Abby Elliott), and Cicero (Oliver Platt) just as Cicero’s “turn the restaurant around” countdown expired. Phew: We’re already stressed out just thinking about it. [Erik Adams]

Life, Larry And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness (HBO, June 26)

So let us be clear: There aren’t a ton of reasons for celebrating the current state of the United States as the country heads toward the semiquincentennial anniversary of the signing of the Declaration Of Independence. And, if we’re being honest, the preceding 249 years weren’t all covered in glory, either. But hey, that just provides more fodder for Larry David and a cast of Curb Your Enthusiasm alums (J.B. Smoove, Susie Essman, Jeff Garlin) and comedy all-stars (Jon Hamm, Bill Hader, Kathryn Hahn, and Sean Hayes) for this Barack and Michelle Obama-produced (no joke) show’s spoofs of great and less-than-great moments in American history.
