Gilla Band<\/a> have shared their first new song in four years in the form of the head-scrambling \u2018Giraffe\u2019 \u2013 check it out below.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The influential\u00a0Dublin\u00a0group,\u00a0formerly known as Girl Band<\/a>,\u00a0have\u00a0not released a studio album since their third record \u2018Most Normal\u2019 in 2022, but they are now back with\u00a0new music.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They have also confirmed details of a string of US tour dates for the end of 2026 and a European tour in January and February 2027, at the end of which they will be playing in Bristol, London,\u00a0Manchester\u00a0and Glasgow\u00a0\u2013 see all the details below.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Giraffe\u2019 is\u00a0typical of the band\u2019s experimental, boundary-pushing approach to guitar music, with distortion and\u00a0atonality at the fore, and singer Dara Kiely\u2019s tortured, yelled vocals spilling out an internal monologue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kiely has said:\u00a0\u201cIn this track, the first few sections\u00a0represent\u00a0what my general headspace is like. It can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place.\u00a0Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to articulate what\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0actually thinking.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outro on the other hand indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection towards me does exist. While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe. \u2018She chased me out the door with a hairbrush demanding that\u00a0I would\u00a0wear a suitable jacket.\u2019\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a very Irish Mammy action. That amount of love is difficult for me to accept but it is a beautiful thing to have in life.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
