The Council on Vertical Urbanism, formerly known as the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat<\/a>, has unveiled the winners of its 2026 Award of Excellence<\/a>. The annual award series seeks to honor \u201cprojects, concepts and initiatives that exemplify new directions in vertical urbanism across the globe.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 73 projects comprising this year’s winners span 20 countries and 20 categories. According to the organizers, the 2026 high-rises \u201creflect a growing emphasis on adaptability, interdisciplinary thinking and long-term urban value.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat distinguished this year\u2019s winners was not simply technical achievement or architectural ambition, but clarity of purpose,\u201d CVU CEO Javier Quintana de U\u00f1a shared. \u201cThese projects demonstrate a deeper understanding of what cities now require: flexibility under changing conditions, intelligent resource use, cutting-edge technology integration, meaningful public engagement, and development strategies capable of delivering lasting social and environmental value.\u201d<\/p>\n

The projects will now be presented at the 2026 VU Summit taking place from October 26-29 in London, where the \u2018Best in Category\u2019 awards will be announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the latest winners are set out below, with architecture teams listed for the best-in-class categories.\u00a0<\/p>\n
