Carson Rowland<\/a>, who plays Tyler \u201cTy\u201d Townsend on the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias<\/a>, is not returning for the show\u2019s upcoming 5th season. <\/p>\n Sweet Magnolias season five premieres on June 11, but Ty will be missing. The exit comes after Ty and his best friend Annie finally told each other that they have feelings for one another. <\/p>\n While Carson\u2018s absence from the show will be a disappointment for fans, the show\u2019s boss says that the storyline will address him being gone. <\/p>\n Why is Carson Rowland leaving Sweet Magnolias?<\/p>\n Showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson told Us Weekly<\/a> that it was Carson\u2018s decision to leave the show. <\/p>\n \u201cHe had some other opportunities that I\u2019m really excited for him about,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s a really, really good friend of mine, and so that\u2019s something that\u2019s really exciting for him and for all of us. We\u2019re all still so supportive of him.\u201d<\/p>\n Anderson said it\u2019s possible that he could return in season 6. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m a big believer in open doors,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I hope we\u2019ll have the opportunity to see who walks through that open door.\u201d<\/p>\n Anderson addressed how they\u2019ll handle the exit. <\/p>\n \u201cIn his leaving, we wanted to make the best of the situation, and look at what happens when people leave the people they love to chase a dream,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n Anderson added, \u201cI know Ty and Annie\u2019s relationship has been such an important piece of Annie\u2019s journey. That\u2019s something that\u2019s really meaningful and something that was really special to bring to life together. And he\u2019s such a generous scene partner. He\u2019s so kind and just the coolest person ever. I love hanging out with him on set, off set.
