But it\u2019s never come to Android. The launch of \u201cAviate,\u201d though, is as close to \u201cFlighty for Android\u201d as I\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n<p>Aviate, by the developer\u2019s description, is an \u201call-in-one flight companion built for travelers who value privacy and simplicity.\u201d And, yup, that just about nails it.<\/p>\n<p>The app opens to an overview of either the globe (dotted with major airports and optionally the weather) or to where your next plane is flying in from. Below, you\u2019ll see upcoming trips you\u2019ve added to the app, split up by trips. Each trip includes the ability to track where your plane is, details about the flight, the ability to save parking information or view a map of the airport, and some other useful functions such as a place to save digital copies of your travel documents, create a checklist of things you need to do related to the trip, and you can even build a budget around the trip. Past trips are logged and you can generate a \u201cWrapped\u201d summary each quarter, or at the end of a year.<\/p>\n<p>Cards with flight details include layover times, flight numbers, gate numbers, your boarding pass, route performance, and more. It started off as a relatively bare-bones experience, but has quickly turned into a genuine Flighty alternative. I\u2019d still say the iOS-only app has an edge, but of course it does \u2013 it\u2019s been around for years now. Aviate, being from a solo developer, is a really well-done flight companion, and one I\u2019m really excited to use as my travel picks back up in the second half of this year. It also stands out to me as an app that was truly built for Android users \u2013 foldable support and Material-inspired design really make it feel at home on my phone. ByAir, one of the other few Flighty alternatives, offers <a href=\"https:\/\/byairapp.com\/compare\/flighty\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a lot of good features<\/a>, but has a very simple design that feels more like an iOS app \u2013 the developers also put iOS screenshots on the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.byairapp.android\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Play Store listing<\/a>, which aren\u2019t representative of the actual app.<\/p>\n<p>Aviate for Android is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=me.highest.aviate\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">available for pre-registration on Google Play<\/a>, with a full release coming soon.
