The Avalanches<\/a> have reunited with\u00a0Jamie xx<\/a> for their new single, \u201cEvery Single Weekend,\u201d a summertime club mover with catchy sampled vocal melodies and a hopping bass line.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve loved collaborating with Jamie xx over the years,\u201d The Avalanches said in a press release. \u201cHis In Colour album reignited our passion for sampling, and this track is all about letting go, forgetting the (nine to five) grind and enjoying every single weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n

If \u201cEvery Single Weekend\u201d sounds familiar that\u2019s because a stripped down version appeared as an interlude on Jamie xx\u2019s 2024 album In Waves.<\/p>\n

The Avalanches brought Jamie xx\u2019s into their fold on their last album, 2020\u2019s We Will Always Love You, with the track \u201cWherever You Go.\u201d Jamie xx, who is a member of English indie-pop band The xx<\/a>, also featured The Avalanches on \u201cAll You Children,\u201d<\/a> another track from In Waves.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery Single Weekend\u201d is the second single released by The Avalanches this year, following \u201cTogether,\u201d<\/a> which they put out in May.<\/p>\n

For the video to the latest single, \u201cthe band continues to draw on \u2013 and subvert \u2013 the language of advertising,\u201d the press release said. Through teaser videos, Instagram posts, and press releases, the group is pushing people to takumiarchives.com<\/a>, a retro-looking website that asks arcane questions until eventually allowing visitors to sign up by email for updates, leading fans and critics to speculate about a forthcoming album.<\/p>\n

The Avalanches, founded by Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi, have in the past come up with creative marketing campaigns in anticipation of album releases. Prior to their previous album, We Will Always Love You, they deployed billboards directing people to a cryptic website with Morse code that gave clues to the release.<\/p>\n

The Avalanches marked their return last week with a surprise DJ set<\/a> in London.<\/p>\n
