{"id":457347,"date":"2026-06-02T16:22:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T16:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/457347\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T16:22:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T16:22:09","slug":"jimmy-kimmel-on-trumps-iq-test-no-president-has-had-to-have-his-brain-examined-this-many-times-late-night-tv-roundup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/457347\/","title":{"rendered":"Jimmy Kimmel on Trump\u2019s IQ test: \u2018No president has had to have his brain examined this many times\u2019 | Late-night TV roundup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On Monday night, late-night hosts discussed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/donaldtrump\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s failing plans for a musical extravaganza in Washington, his all-time low approval ratings and the rise of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2026\/may\/30\/spencer-pratt-mayor-policy-experience\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spencer Pratt<\/a> in the California primary.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/jimmy-kimmel\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the host<\/a> reacted to the news that the US president is somehow at war with both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/iran\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iran<\/a> and one-hit wonders Milli Vanilli.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Last week, Trump announced the Great American State Fair, a lavish musical event to celebrate America\u2019s 250th birthday with performers including Martina McBride, Morris Day and the Time, the Commodores, Milli Vanilli and Poison\u2019s Bret Michaels \u2013 all who have since dropped out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIt was as if they\u2019d been booked on a hantavirus cruise,\u201d joked Kimmel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On Truth Social, Trump responded by saying that he is thinking about replacing artists who are getting the \u201cyips\u201d by installing himself as headliner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe only artists who did not back out were Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice, who now need to find another way to make 80 bucks a night,\u201d said Kimmel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cInstead of music, the entertainment will be an 80-year-old man yelling about windmills. Windmilli Vanilli will be taking the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Meanwhile, a federal judge has ruled that Trump\u2019s name must be removed from the Kennedy Center, saying that it can only be named in tribute to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/john-f-kennedy\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John F Kennedy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThis really got under his pumpkin-colored skin,\u201d said Kimmel, flashing up two very long posts that Trump wrote in response to the snub. \u201cGeorge Washington\u2019s inauguration speech was shorter than these!\u201d remarked the host.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cBut don\u2019t worry, Trump\u2019s name will still be emblazoned on the still unreleased Trump-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/jeffrey-epstein\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Epstein<\/a> files for all time,\u201d he said to audience applause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Trump also took time to brag about the results of his latest physical, commenting that he \u201cscored 30 out of 30\u201d on a four consecutive cognitive tests, proving \u201cextreme intelligence\u201d and that he is smarter than all past US presidents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d joked Kimmel. \u201cNo president in the history of this country has ever had to have his brain examined this many times in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Kimmel then turned to the California primary, with the former reality star Spencer Pratt in a tight race with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/karen-bass\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Karen Bass<\/a> and Nithya Raman. \u201cHow that is possible, I have no idea,\u201d said Kimmel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cEven if you\u2019re just looking to mix it up with a celebrity, there are so many celebrities who live here that would be better choices than Spencer Pratt,\u201d he said, before listing off well-known figures such as \u201cWeird Al\u201d Yankovic, Magic Johnson and \u201cliterally anyone from the cast of The Hills\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Seth Meyers<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Back from a two-week break, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/seth-meyers\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seth Meyers<\/a> joked that everything has been \u201cvery chill\u201d before listing the decidedly un-chill events that have rocked global news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Last weekend, Trump posted 60 Truth Social posts in 14 hours that attacked judges and political rivals. \u201cLet\u2019s cut him some slack,\u201d Meyers deadpanned. \u201cHe\u2019s been under a lot of stress lately after a barrage of legal and political setbacks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Meyers then played a number of news clips showing that Trump\u2019s approval ratings have slipped to an all-time low, the ruling that Trump\u2019s name be removed from the Kennedy Center and several artists dropping out of Trump\u2019s \u201cstate fair\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cImagine how badly things have to be going that the real Milli Vanilli publicly rejected you, and it\u2019s not even in the top 10 most embarrassing things to happen to you this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cMaybe Trump can sue his own government and set up a billion-dollar compensation fund for everyone who was defrauded by the fake Milli Vanilli, AKA the Milli-Vanilli-A-Billi fund.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The president has been under a lot of stress, Meyers noted, adding that his peace talks with Iran, concert with 80s novelty acts and plans for a new White House ballroom are all falling apart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cDespite all the negatives, the Republican party remains laser-focused on what matters most to working Americans,\u201d Meyers said, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/joebiden\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Biden<\/a>\u2019s brain bad; Trump\u2019s brain good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On \u201cperfect\u201d Trump\u2019s cognitive test results, Meyers commented: \u201cFirst of all, it\u2019s a dementia test, not an IQ test. Second, \u2018extreme intelligence\u2019 is not a medical term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThis is the fundamental problem that Trump has faced his entire life,\u201d the host said. \u201cHe brags about stuff that you wouldn\u2019t have to brag about if the thing was actually true. You wouldn\u2019t have to constantly insist to people that that you\u2019re a big-brained genius if you actually were a genius.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIf everyone was walking around with affordable healthcare, cheap groceries and $2 gas, you could just sit back and spend the day picking drapes for your ballroom and applying concealer to your fucked-up Frankenstein hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Meyers concluded: \u201cThe president is using his office to enrich himself and his family, put his face on monuments and money, and set up a slush fund for his criminal supporters, all while waging a disastrous war that has made life harder for working Americans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThere are lots of words you could use to describe it: \u2018corrupt\u2019, \u2018incompetent\u2019, \u2018immoral\u2019.
