According to the Sun, the latest arrest followed allegations the former contestant contacted the alleged victim in the case while the investigation was ongoing.<\/p>\n
A source told the publication: \u201cThis second arrest is a real shock \u2013 and potentially very bad news for the ex-contestant. There was an investigation going on into very serious offences that he was arrested over last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd now it seems like he might have contacted the alleged victim to try to pressure them into withdrawing from the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf that is true, and he has done so, it is incredibly serious and he\u2019s been very stupid.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe courts and CPS take a very dim view of that sort of thing for obvious reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
The individual was reportedly first arrested in November last year after arriving in the United Kingdom through Gatwick Airport.<\/p>\n
The latest arrest is said to have taken place at his home address on April 27.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Police in London confirmed a man in his 20s had been arrested as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the force said: \u201cA man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. The arrest relates to an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual assault, stalking, criminal damage and assault.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was arrested at an address on Monday, April 27 and bailed pending further inquiries.\u201d<\/p>\n
No charges have been brought in relation to the allegations and police inquiries remain ongoing.<\/p>\n
The development comes as the latest series of Love Island began airing on ITV.<\/p>\n
The reality dating programme remains one of Britain\u2019s most-watched entertainment formats and has produced a number of high-profile television personalities and social media influencers since its revival in 2015.<\/p>\n
