Keep an eye out for more lists charting the <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/list\/33-best-albums-of-2026-so-far\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">best albums<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/list\/100-best-songs-of-2026-so-far\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">songs<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/list\/best-movies-of-2026-so-far\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">movies<\/a> from the first half of the year.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s something a little unconventional about all of Consequence\u2019s picks for the best TV shows of 2026 so far. Matthew Rhys regularly stars in great TV shows, but his presence here is for a series that actively defies genre conventions. We\u2019re leaning hard into superheroes like Wonder Man and Spider-Noir, but only because all of them represent skewed, fascinating takes on their subject matter. And yes, there\u2019s a Game of Thrones spinoff on the list \u2014 but A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the weirdest one to date.<\/p>\n<p>It all speaks to a year where there\u2019s an unsettled energy and a lack of obvious hits, leaving room for us to appreciate the odder shows to premiere so far. The one big exception is of course HBO Max\u2019s The Pitt, an awards juggernaut that may again prove undeniable this year as the Emmys loom ahead.
