On Late Night, Seth Meyers<\/a> spoke about how Republicans remain confident for the midterms despite early indicators suggesting they might be in trouble.<\/p>\n Senator Ted Cruz was interviewed this week and said he thought voters would care enough about supporting the war in Iran to forget both rising inflation and rising gas prices.<\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t think people care about high gas prices?\u201d Meyers asked. \u201cDo you not have a dad?\u201d<\/p>\n Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s approval rating is at a new low and is now worse than it was when he left office the first time. \u201cDude has changed so little he can\u2019t even admit he lost in 2020,\u201d Meyers said.<\/p>\n Even among his core base of white working-class men, his rating is down, leaving just \u201cMaha moms who love UFC and crypto\u201d.<\/p>\n Meyers said this was because he was still \u201cfocused on the wrong stuff\u201d such as the controversial \u201cslush fund for January 6 insurrectionists\u201d which has divided Republicans leading to reports of open revolt.<\/p>\n In \u201ca rare admission of defeat\u201d it was then scrapped although Trump and his family still have permanent immunity for tax crimes, which is \u201cespecially insane considering what we already know\u201d about the president barely paying income tax.<\/p>\n Reports suggest he may owe more than $100m in back taxes but \u201cif he doesn\u2019t wanna do something, he just doesn\u2019t do it\u201d.<\/p>\n Meyers said that \u201ceven Republicans disapprove of Trump\u2019s priorities\u201d, which all go back to \u201cenriching himself\u201d.<\/p>\n Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n
