Bear McCreary<\/a> has released the new single \u201cCool Kids\u201d featuring Slash<\/a> and Duff McKagan<\/a> of Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a> as well as Chad Smith<\/a> of Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The single, which also included Bear\u2019s brother Brendan McCreary on vocals, comes from the renowned TV and film composer\u2019s upcoming album<\/a> The Singularity: Ekleipsis, set to arrive July 31st.<\/p>\n

The song blends hard rock with glam rock, nailing the same mixture of early Guns N\u2019 Roses. The opening bass riff gives off a very Megadeth \u201cPeace Sells\u201d vibe, while the verse riff offers the bounce of a classic Rage Against the Machine riff.<\/p>\n

McCreary stated, \u201c\u2018Cool Kids\u2019 was born when Duff McKagan sent me a voice memo of a riff he was messing around wit. My ears perked up instantly \u2014 his riff was undeniable! So Duff and I went into the studio the next week along with my brother, vocalist Brendan McCreary, and Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers and wrote the song together. We went in with Duff\u2019s initial riff and our enthusiasm, and walked out with \u2018Cool Kids.\u2019 When Slash got back into town, he added his signature screaming guitar parts, and there it was. \u2018Cool Kids\u2019 is a song about all of us being proudly who we are, but I wouldn\u2019t blame anybody for assuming the title was inspired by the fact that Brendan and I got to create this song with the coolest kids in rock and roll.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to \u201cCool Kids,\u201d McCreary has also unveiled the eight-minute \u201cOne Fine Day,\u201d a song also featuring Slash. The track is a prog rock piece that is comparable to Leprous with its acrobatic legato vocal and grand theatricality.<\/p>\n

McCreary will be on the road in Europe in July through August (tickets here<\/a>), with a North American tour slated for September (tickets here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
