But, he said, having a cash safety net is necessary if the risks don\u2019t pay off or unexpected circumstances arise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it\u2019s good, you stack hay in the barn; you invest; you make sure that you set yourself up for bad things to happen in the future because they will happen,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Ford also said small business owners need a \u201cBAIL\u201d team \u2014 banker, accountant, insurance agent and lawyer \u2014 of people they know on a personal level because those people\u00a0can make or break a business if not tended to correctly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Article__related sans\" style=\"padding-left:30px;margin-top:0;font-size:110%\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymemphian.com\/article\/54978\/target-academy-sports-millington-retail-surge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">With an incoming Target and Academy Sports, Millington has hit the retail \u2018bullseye\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd and Shannon Finks, owners of Z\u00fcpMed, said that starting and keeping a business going sometimes requires pivoting to new ideas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything doesn\u2019t always turn out the way that you hope and that you plan, so you pivot and work hard,\u201d Shannon Finks said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"&lt;strong&gt;Shannon and Lloyd Finks are the co-owners of Z\u00fcpMed, a\u00a0concierge medical practice that opened its doors just before the city was shut down due to the pandemic.&lt;\/strong&gt; (Brad Vest\/Special to The Daily Memphian)\" src=\"https:\/\/thememphian.blob.core.windows.net\/sized\/171546_440\" data-large=\"https:\/\/thememphian.blob.core.windows.net\/sized\/171546_1200\" data-largewidth=\"1200\" data-largeheight=\"800\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Shannon and Lloyd Finks are the co-owners of Z\u00fcpMed, a\u00a0concierge medical practice that opened its doors just before the city was shut down due to the pandemic. So, the couple transformed the facility into a hub for COVID-19 vaccinations and urgent care visits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Now a direct primary care and urgent care facility focused on hospitality once more, Z\u00fcpmed operates on a cash-only basis and doesn\u2019t\u00a0accept insurance.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that the traditional health care system is flawed and has room to grow,\u201d Shannon Finks said.\u00a0\u201cWe feel that it\u2019s very transactional, impersonal and rushed. We wanted to improve upon this model.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Article__related sans\" style=\"padding-left:30px;margin-top:0;font-size:110%\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymemphian.com\/article\/54813\/arthur-property-history-germantown-development\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Is third time the charm for the 33 acres of \u2018opportunity\u2019 in Germantown? <\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The Finks said that both the service, or the \u201cdelivery of your product,\u201d and the hospitality, or \u201chow you deliver\u201d that product, are needed to cultivate a good work and health care environment.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>But all three companies had something in common.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think something that really struck a chord, listening to our first two speakers, was the commitment to the city of Memphis,\u201d Lloyd Finks said.\u00a0\u201cFrom the beginning, we don\u2019t want to be closed. What we want to be is open.
