{"id":461807,"date":"2026-06-05T04:48:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T04:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/461807\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T04:48:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T04:48:11","slug":"apple-wallets-new-digital-id-feature-just-got-way-more-useful-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/461807\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Wallet\u2019s new Digital ID feature just got way more useful in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<img width=\"1600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/apple-wallet-ios-26.jpg\" class=\"skip-lazy wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today Apple implemented a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/06\/03\/apple-says-texas-app-store-age-assurance-rules-start-tomorrow-after-court-ruling\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">age-related restrictions<\/a> in Texas based on new legislation, and as a result, the Wallet app\u2019s Digital ID feature just became far more useful for Texans.<\/p>\n<p>Digital ID can be used for iPhone age verification in Texas following new state requirements<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/texas-app-store.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1022968\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following today\u2019s freshly implemented iPhone <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/06\/03\/apple-says-texas-app-store-age-assurance-rules-start-tomorrow-after-court-ruling\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">age requirements in Texas<\/a>, there\u2019s a new way to use the Wallet app\u2019s Digital ID feature in the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/127462\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new support document<\/a> titled: Age requirements for managing an Apple Account in the United States (Texas). Here\u2019s an excerpt:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to Texas law, these age requirements apply to new Apple Accounts created in Texas on or after June 4, 2026:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That first bullet point is where Digital ID is especially relevant.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/passport.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1027882\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last fall, Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2025\/11\/12\/apple-launches-digital-id-wallet-passport-support\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">launched<\/a> Digital ID in the Wallet app with initial support at TSA checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/05\/26\/apple-wallets-new-digital-id-feature-just-added-more-ways-to-use-it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expanded<\/a> Digital ID to be used for age verification in select territories around the world. And now, Texas is the first place in the US to join that list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone in Texas who creates an Apple Account will, starting today, need to prove their age to use certain services and features.
