Clearly, this event is right in Amanda’s wheelhouse, but her determination to muscle in on her daughter’s world is foiled by a kid with richer, more ostentatious parents. Still, at least Amanda can host the pre-party, even if her appalling mother, Felicity (Joanna Lumley), is stinking up the place. As this series ends, Amanda (brilliantly brought to life by Lucy Punch) has sealed her position as one of the great grotesque sitcom characters. Phil Harrison

The Future With Hannah Fry

7.30pm, BBC Two
It is easy, and often understandable, to see dystopian threats in many aspects of technological development. The great strength of Hannah Fry is her refusal to view progress in such simplistic terms. This episode is a case in point – Fry looks at the remarkable ways in which tech is transforming the lives of disabled people. Photograph: PHOTOGRAPHER:/CREDIT LINE:BBC/Dragonfly Film and TV Productions

More astounding feats of medical mastery as this series concludes. This time, a surgeon discovers a potentially fatal tumour in a patient’s liver and diaphragm. They have one shot to remove it safely. In a similarly knife-edge operation, a neurosurgeon has a chance of saving a patient from paralysis. Will the coroner be able to point them in the right direction? Graeme Virtue

On the Frontline: Exposed – The High Street Crime Crisis

10pm, BBC Two
Through undercover operations and dog raids, this multi-city investigation delves into the illicit operations of high street mini-marts. Ed Thomas follows police cracking down on the shops selling unregulated cigarettes, as well as vapes to underage children, before discovering the sprawling, exploitative network that runs behind many of them. Nicole Vassell

Ken Loach Remembers: The Old Oak

10.05pm, BBC Four
A bonanza for fans of polemical drama as film director Loach offers up introductions to one of his newish works and a notable older one. First, The Old Oak is a 2023 film about Syrian refugees arriving in a town in County Durham. Then, the celebrated TV play Up the Junction, which was broadcast in 1965 and helped to make Loach’s name.
