Craigs investment adviser Zac O\u2019Brien said the firm was delighted to support the series because it invested in the region\u2019s cultural capital and its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe arts are one of the defining strengths of Whanganui and an important part of what makes this community such a special place to live. <\/p>\n

\u201cPartnering with the Sarjeant Gallery to produce this biennial series is an extension of our commitment to the region, its wellbeing and to the institutions and organisations who enrich our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Craigs previously supported the gallery\u2019s collaborative project with Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Joanna Margaret Paul: Imagined in the context of a room, which opened in Whanganui last year.<\/a><\/p>\n

Each edition of In\u0101ianei will present a small group of artists whose work reflects the ideas, relationships, mediums and creative dialogues occurring in contemporary practice in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Its introduction marks an evolution in the gallery\u2019s wider programme structure, alternating years with the long-running Whanganui Arts Review, which will become a biennial event in the first half of 2027.<\/p>\n

The change allows the gallery to further support for local artists and create a strong rhythm between the open-access community model of the Arts Review and the curated framework of In\u0101ianei, where artists will be invited to show a body of work.<\/p>\n

Senior curator and programmes manager Greg Donson said the series would acknowledge Whanganui\u2019s creative strength while offering audiences opportunities to encounter experimental, innovative and thoughtful practices. <\/p>\n
