So as our American friends settle in for a New Who rewatch, what better time (and relative dimension in space etc etc) to host your very own watch-along, in the comfort of your own home / space-station / parallel Earth?

If you need a good place to start, 2026 also marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic Series 2 of Doctor Who. Relive the very first adventures of the Tenth Doctor and Rose in style, as they travel from New Earth to pre-Revolutionary France to Canary Wharf, battling Cybermen, Krillitane, the Abzorbaloff, and even the Beast itself.

Need some ideas? Worry not, Dear Viewer! The moment has been prepared for. Read on for some of our top Time Lord tips.

Are we sitting comfortably? Then let’s begin…

Assemble your TARDIS Team

Flying solo is great, but some of the very best adventures are had with friends. So rally together your fellow Whovians and lock a date and time in the 500-year diary. Few things in the universe beat enjoying your favourite show with others who share that love – quoting along, swapping facts and theories, rewatching those memorable moments with one another. It’s a beautiful timey-wimey thing. And yes of course, opinions may sometimes clash – (Doccy Who fans, opinionated? Never…) – but that’s all part of the fun.

Question is… what house rules are in play? Is chat during episodes allowed, or strictly forbidden ’til those crucial post-ep debriefs? Is it physically possible not to shout out those iconic lines as and when they happen?

Who knows *taps side of nose*… but there’s certainly only one way to find out!

Set the Scene

Why not festoon your lounge / console room with decorations befitting your spacetime event? We’re talking lights, posters, figurines, cardboard cutouts. Why not party like it’s 1953, and whack that bunting out (TARDIS blue obvs; the best colour in the cosmos). Hey, if it’s good enough for a Queen’s coronation, it’ll work for TV royalty too.

And never be afraid to get DIY with it, so break out those art supplies and get creative. If in doubt, think: WWTDD (What Would the Doctor Do?).

The sky’s the limit! This is your permission to go wilder than a red-eyed Ood in a craft cupboard.

Dress for Adventure

A Time Lord is nothing without their accessories, and we know you’ve all got a long stripy scarf in your TARDIS wardrobe. But the choice is yours, and it’s whatever makes you feel most comfortable – whether that’s your fav geeky tee, or an awesome homemade cosplay. Maybe you want to take a leaf out of the freshly-regenerated Tenth Doctor’s book à la The Christmas Invasion and do it all in a nice pair of comfy PJs, slippers, and dressing gown?

Personally, I’m partial to a lil’ orange spacesuit myself. Paired with some void stuff detecting 3D specs. Tres chic.

“HUNGRYYYYYYY!!”

It’s super-super-important to keep your energy up when engaged in a Who marathon, so stock up your cloisters with plenty of snacks and silence any rumbly tummies. Remember: popcorn and sweets are as essential a travelling buddy as any sonic screwdriver or psychic paper!

Engage your hindbrains and dream up some fun themed nibbles as you put together a feast you can really sink your teeth and claws into. Maybe some hot dogs fresh from New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York? Served with a side of Krillitane oil-fried chips (do try them, they’re delicious, and you’ll be a whizz at quantum computing afterwards, too).

And make sure to keep in mind the iconic Lady Cassandra’s advice and stay moisturised! Stay plenty hydrated with some equally themed drinks from your very own space-bar. Maybe a banana daiquiri for the adults, or nice chilled bottle of Vitex / Vitex-Lite (Pete Tyler’s got plenty)? Or perhaps just a good ol’ classic cuppa tea (two sugars, if you take it like the mother herself, queen Jackie Tyler).

Pop on down your local little shop (love a little shop) and prepare a feast fit for an Abzorbaloff!

Be Prepared

Make your Base a Sanctuary with lots of blankets, pillows, bean bags, and other comfy stuff. But also: it’s good to have a cushion ready to hide behind during those scary scenes (we’re looking at you, Clockwork Droids).

And unless you’re recently upgraded to a Cybus Industries emotional inhibitor, you might want some tissues on standby for those moments that’ll break your double-hearts all over again – a deserted beach, Ten and Rose, Doomsday theme starts to play, need we say more…?

Take Breaks

We get it. We know. One episode of Doctor Who turns into another, turns into just one more… and before you know it nine whole centuries have passed and you’re a completely different person (maybe this time you might even be ginger).

But remember! Prolonged exposure to your idiot’s lantern (aka television / whatever screen you’re partial to) can result in sucking your face clean off. Which is never a good look. Believe me, I’ve tried it.

So! Make sure to schedule in some frequent, decent breaks as you go – keep yourself fed and watered, visit the Little Daleks’ Room, go outside and touch apple-grass.

Plus, these times make great opportunities to…

Game On

Between episodes, keep the fun going and energy up with some on-brand games and activities.

Unleash your inner Scribble Monster with a Fear Her-inspired doodle competition, where your gathered guests draw one another; or maybe design a new alien the Doctor might run into on their travels. Or how about some masquerade mask-making ahead of The Girl in the Fireplace? We can also highly recommend making a Who-themed bingo sheet (Torchwood mentioned; corridor running; “allons-y!”; etc) – first one to full house gets a special prize!

The Most Important Bit

But the most important advice of all is as follows… have fun! It’s your watch party, your friends, your rules. The core ingredients are already there – you, your mates, hours of bangin’ television – so anything else is just icing on the chrono-cake.

And hey, you never know, you might just end up like the Fans during Lux and encounter the Doctor falling out the telly and into your living room in the flesh…

There’s only one way to find out!

So – without further ado –

ALLONS-Y..!!

Doctor Who (2005–2022) is now streaming on AMC+ in the US and BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Lock the TARDIS doors, lower the astro-blinds, and fire up the time machine – let’s have a Doctor…

[29
156,111,139,69,437
post-473489","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tv","tag-entertainment","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-tv
["GET
