Foggy morning conditions are set to continue for parts of the country as a wet and wild weather change moves across the South Island later today. <\/p>\n

MetService meteorologist Surprise Mhlongo told the Herald another foggy morning was expected for many places across New Zealand. <\/p>\n

He said the Auckland region, Northland region, Hawke\u2019s Bay, Wairarapa and most places in the valleys of the South Island would be affected. <\/p>\n

\u201cFog happens when you have stable conditions. So that means you have a high-pressure system dominating the region,\u201d Mhlongo said. <\/p>\n

Drastic change on the way <\/p>\n

Mhlongo said the front approaching the South Island is expected to make landfall towards midday, bringing wind and rain. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor some places, the weather will be changing drastically,\u201d Mhlongo said in comparison to yesterday\u2019s weather. <\/p>\n

MetService said a front, preceded by a strong and moist northwest flow, was forecast to move onto southern New Zealand before it moved northwards over the remainder of the South Island on Monday. <\/p>\n

At this stage, places like Fiordland and Westland are expected to get most of the rain. <\/p>\n

A heavy rain watch for the ranges of Westland has been issued from 2pm until 7am tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Fiordland north of Doubtful Sound is under the same watch from 11am until 10pm. <\/p>\n

A strong wind watch is in place for Canterbury High Country and Plains near the foothills from noon. <\/p>\n

\u201cPlaces like Canterbury High Country, there\u2019s a chance of strong northwesterlies gusting to about 90km\/h.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mhlongo said the southwestern parts of the North Island could see scattered showers tomorrow, but it wouldn\u2019t be to the extent of the South Island. <\/p>\n

After a chilly week, he said temperatures were set to start warming up.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaces like Wellington, we\u2019re expecting 18C tomorrow, which is relatively warm for this time of the year.\u201d <\/p>\n

Mhlongo said Hawke\u2019s Bay, Napier and Hastings could even reach around 21C. <\/p>\n
