Lotto was forced to scrap last night’s live televised draw and run it off-air after an electrical issue at the studio.<\/p>\n
In an on-air message at 8.05pm, host Sonia Gray told viewers the studio had lost power. <\/p>\n
Despite the disruption, the draw still produced three big winners – each taking home $333,333 with First Division. <\/p>\n
The tickets were sold at Bayfair Lotto in Mount Maunganui and on MyLotto to players from the K\u0101piti Coast and Central Otago.<\/p>\n
The winning numbers were 7, 8, 13, 32, 33 and 37. <\/p>\n
The Bonus ball was 22 and the Powerball was 5.<\/p>\n
The lotteries commission said the draw would instead be conducted using a Random Number Generator under the scrutiny of the Audit Office, drawing on processes used previously during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
Lotto NZ head of corporate communications Will Hine apologised to players, saying it was due to a “technical issue at TVNZ”.<\/p>\n
“We’re sorry we were unable to bring our customers the live draw tonight,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Fortunately, we have established and secure processes that allow us to run the draw off-air using a Random Number Generator under the scrutiny of the Audit Office, in circumstances like this.”<\/p>\n
Hine said the off-air method had also been used in 2019, when a fire at the SkyCity Convention Centre disrupted filming.<\/p>\n
Official Lotto results would be published later that evening, Hine said, though he warned this could be later than usual due to the disruption.<\/p>\n
“We thank our players for their patience and understanding.”<\/p>\n
