A woman fell to her death after staff allegedly forgot to attach the rope before she bungee jumped from a bridge in Brazil.<\/p>\n
Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, was thrown from the Ponte do Esqueleto, known as Skeleton Bridge, an abandoned rail crossing near S\u00e3o Paulo, according to Brazilian outlet G1.<\/p>\n
Footage circulating on social media appears to show staff carrying de Freitas towards the edge of the bridge in the moments before the jump. <\/p>\n
In the video, a witness can be heard pointing to a rope left on the ground and shouting, “Guys, the rope!”<\/p>\n
According to O Globo, de Freitas had joked on her Instagram Stories shortly before the jump, asking who had been “crazy” enough to let her jump off a bridge.<\/p>\n
Six people were brought in for questioning over the death, a representative for the S\u00e3o Paulo government confirmed to PEOPLE. <\/p>\n
Three men \u2014 aged 27, 32 and 42 \u2014 were arrested at the scene and charged with homicide with implied malice.<\/p>\n
S\u00e3o Paulo police delegate Andrea Dantas Levy told G1 the operation had not been authorised to run at the site. <\/p>\n
She said the fatality appeared to stem from a failure to check and supervise whether the rope had been properly attached before the jump.<\/p>\n
