{"id":478903,"date":"2026-06-15T20:04:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T20:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/478903\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T20:04:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T20:04:30","slug":"bleeding-earth-by-vancouver-artist-removed-from-science-world-daily-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/478903\/","title":{"rendered":"Bleeding earth by Vancouver artist removed from Science World | Daily Hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A sculpture created by a Vancouver artist who goes by Lupo Artwork has been removed from its strategically placed location next to Science World.<\/p>\n<p>The moving piece comes from notable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lupo.artwork\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vancouver artist Lupo<\/a>, who shared some details about his work with Daily Hive Urbanized.<\/p>\n<p>Lupo\u2019s sculpture was based on a painting he completed two years prior.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"vancouver artist\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1274\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-2283466\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Lupo-1.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2283466\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">@Lupo.Artwork<\/p>\n<p>The artist shared that the inspiration behind the piece is simple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur children are inheriting a world soaked in blood, built on violence and domination, drowning in genocide and hatred, and strangled by greed. And we\u2019re rapidly making it worse. I want that to change, and I want us to give them something better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He shared that while the piece is not about FIFA specifically, it was a fitting time and place for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFIFA is here. It is also profiting from, supporting, and perpetuating systemic violence globally, while making great efforts to censor and silence anyone speaking out about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He gave an example, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019ve already seen this in practice for 2026, for example, the peace award given to Trump, the ramped-up policing, displacement and violence against communities within host nations, and criminalizing and abusing visiting nations. Even making Haiti change their jersey and remove their own battle of independence from the imagery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about the FIFA prize awarded to U.S. President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/inside.fifa.com\/campaigns\/football-unites-the-world\/news\/president-trump-peace-prize-football-unites-the-world\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lupo shared that street art like his world-burning piece is removed within hours because of current Vancouver regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Lupo shared that his work generally contains a message along the lines of, \u201cDear world: We gotta do better. This is no kinda legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that art won\u2019t stop bombs dropping. So, of course, it\u2019s also important to engage in direct action,\u201d Lupo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess I\u2019m just hoping to help open dialogue, raise awareness, and keep this image of a frightening, global inheritance visible. To keep discomfort in plain sight and to make it a little harder to just look away.
