Image \/ Universal Pictures<\/p>\n<p class=\"EoZyGajGNiPxVf\" style=\"display:none\">However, it wasn\u2019t the plot or even the Disney dig that some fans took issue with, but rather the apparently glaring stylistic difference from the 2001 original and its three subsequent films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EoZyGajGNiPxVf\" style=\"display:none\">Fans claim the original characters they\u2019ve grown to love have been given a more cartoonish look with smoother, modern features and larger eyes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EoZyGajGNiPxVf\" style=\"display:none\">Some diehard fans have even claimed the new-look characters are the handiwork of \u201cAI slop\u201d that has \u201cstripped all identity\u201d from the magic of Shrek and his swamp mates.<\/p>\n<p><img  alt=\"How Fiona looked in the first four movies. It\u2019s what made Shrek so special and unique,\u201d another wondered, as one fan was adamant, \u201cThis is not my Shrek\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EoZyGajGNiPxVf\" style=\"display:none\">With the film still one year away, some fans have pleaded with the studio to revert to the franchise\u2019s original look.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EoZyGajGNiPxVf\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cPlease consider changing the animation style and make it more like the first 4 Shrek films,\u201d one asked on the platform. Another said: \u201cWhy does everything look like Disney now?
