The man wasn\u2019t believed to have any family in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice have made contact with the relevant consulate in order for next of kin to be notified overseas,\u201d Worth said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe death has been referred to the Coroner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The death isn\u2019t related to that of a man whose body was retrieved from the same high-country lake last Friday<\/a>, police confirmed.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called on the evening of Thursday, June 11, with reports a man had entered the water and failed to surface.<\/p>\n

Police search and rescue staff, along with Coastguard Mackenzie Lakes volunteers, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, and a helicopter searched through the night but were unable to locate him.<\/p>\n

A body matching the description of the man was eventually found<\/a> on Friday afternoon by the Police Dive Squad.<\/p>\n
