(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014 Savannah Guthrie has taken a few days off from the “Today<\/a>” show.<\/p>\n

Guthrie was off from the long-running morning show on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18, to film the “Wordle” game show.<\/p>\n

“Today” co-anchor Craig Melvin explained Guthrie’s absence from work after previously saying she was “on assignment.”<\/p>\n

“Savannah starts production meetings on the ‘Wordle’ game show coming to NBC,” Melvin said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Sheinelle Jones, who covered for Guthrie, added, “It’s coming! Yeah, I’m excited for her.”<\/p>\n

“Perhaps Savannah is amongst the huge crowd taking over the streets of New York today for the Knicks’ victory parade<\/a>,” Jones, who co-hosts the fourth hour of “Today,” joked.<\/p>\n

Guthrie announced last month that she will host a “Wordle<\/a>” game show, based on the popular New York Times game, which will be produced by Jimmy Fallon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She posted a picture of her Wordle nameplate on her Instagram Story, showing her initials.<\/p>\n

The anchor is expected to return to the morning show on Monday, June 22, People Magazine<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Guthrie’s short break<\/a> from the show comes amid an investigation into the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.<\/p>\n

On January 31, Nancy Guthrie<\/a> was last seen heading to her home in Tucson, Arizona.<\/p>\n

Savannah Guthrie made her emotional return to “Today”<\/a> in April, opening the newscast with, “It is good to be home.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
