Actress Lindsay Lohan has shared a rare glimpse at her \u201cincredible\u201d home life with her husband, Bader Shammas, and their 3-year-old son, Luai \u2014 12 years after she relocated from Los Angeles to Dubai in order to escape the endless scrutiny she endured in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
\u201cMean Girls\u201d star Lohan, 39, shared a series of Instagram images and videos of her adorable family both in the U.S. and in their home city, while paying tribute to her spouse on his 40th birthday.<\/p>\n
The clip showed off many of the fun-filled family days Lohan and Shammas have shared with their son, including a clip of the actress\u2019s partner riding a scooter around their Dubai property, while Luai eagerly follows on his own mini bike.<\/p>\n
It then cut to a loved-up image of the pair, before showing Shammas playing in the pool with Luai.<\/p>\n
In her caption, Lohan \u2014 who is currently filming a psychological thriller series called \u201cCount My Lies\u201d in New York City \u2014 took the opportunity to thank her husband for helping her to build such a fulfilling life with their child, noting that he has gone above and beyond to create a safe and caring home for their son.<\/p>\n

The unusual peek at her home life comes mere months after Lohan confessed that she has no plans to return to California full time, even though her on-screen career has experienced a significant resurgence in recent years.<\/p>\n
Lohan, who shot to fame at the tender age of 12 when she made her big-screen debut in \u201cThe Parent Trap,\u201d relocated to Dubai in 2014 in a bid to escape what she described as a \u201cstressful\u201d environment in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
And during an August 2025 appearance on \u201cLive with Kelly and Mark,\u201d she revealed the many reasons she loves living in the city with her family \u2014 explaining to host Kelly Ripa that the privacy she is afforded there makes her feel so much safer when she\u2019s out and about with her loved ones.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just far away from Hollywood, and I live a very normal life,\u201d Lohan shared. \u201cThere\u2019s no worry of like, I can\u2019t go eat at this place \u2018cause someone\u2019s gonna take a picture of my son. And it\u2019s just, I feel very safe.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actress then left Ripa open-mouthed in shock when she revealed one of the main reasons why privacy is such a big part of her life in Dubai \u2014 explaining that it\u2019s actually illegal to take a photograph of someone in a public place without their consent.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not legal,\u201d Lohan told a stunned Ripa when asked whether there are paparazzi in Dubai. \u201cYou can\u2019t take a picture of someone else if you\u2019re in a restaurant. You have to ask the person, which is a big difference from here.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s incredible,\u201d the TV host responded, as Lohan noted: \u201cYeah, privacy is key.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time that Lohan has gushed about the lifestyle in Dubai, having previously explained to \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d star Chloe Fineman that she still finds it \u201chard\u201d to be in L.A., particularly when she\u2019s accompanied by her son.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard in L.A. Even taking my son to the park in L.A., I get stressed. I\u2019m like, \u2018Are there cameras?\u2019\u201d she explained to the comedian in a May interview for Elle.<\/p>\n
Although Lohan conceded that New York \u2014 where she was born and raised \u2014 affords her much more privacy than L.A., she said that Dubai essentially gives her the best of both worlds.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn New York, there\u2019s no worry; no one bothers us. Everyone has their own thing going on,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a different kind of energy in New York. I\u2019d rather have downtime in New York than I would in L.A. But the nice thing about L.A. is, I like space [and you get that here].<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019m thinking as I\u2019m saying this, the funny thing is, in Dubai I get all of those things. I get the privacy, I get the peace, I get the space. I don\u2019t have to worry there; I feel safe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although Lohan lives primarily in Dubai with Shammas and their son, she admitted during the interview that they had spent less than half of the past year in their home country because of her work commitments in the U.S.<\/p>\n
She also admitted that Dubai might not end up as their permanent home in the future, explaining that she and Shammas still need to decide where they want their son to attend school \u2014 a choice that might take them away from the country they currently call home.<\/p>\n
Though she has some complicated feelings about life in L.A., Lohan said she felt privileged to have filmed \u201cFreakier Friday\u201d in the city before the California wildfires ravaged multiple neighbourhoods, destroying the home in which the original movie was shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, the film is such an homage to California after the fires, because we shot a lot in the Palisades and in Malibu,\u201d she shared. \u201cEven the house \u2014 the original \u2018Freaky Friday\u2019 house \u2014 unfortunately, is gone. So I think it\u2019ll be a really nice love letter.\u201d<\/p>\n
The property where Lohan\u2019s character, Anna Coleman, and her mother, Tess Coleman, played by Curtis, lived was located in the Pacific Palisades, which was devastated by the California wildfires at the start of 2025.<\/p>\n
According to records, the prior owner of the \u201cFreaky Friday\u201d house opted to sell the vacant lot on which the property had been located for $4 million (AUD $5.7 million) in April. The 8,628-square-foot lot had been listed for $4.3 million (AUD $6.13 million).<\/p>\n
As for Lohan\u2019s own dwelling in Dubai, where she is raising her son, she has rarely shared images of the property, in a bid to safeguard its location.<\/p>\n
While she was living in Los Angeles, the actress \u2014 who was raised on Long Island \u2014 spent several years residing in hotel rooms, including the iconic Chateau Marmont, where she is understood to have stayed for multiple months while filming the movie \u201cLiz & Dick.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also rented a sprawling Beverly Hills property for $8,000 (AUD $11,400) a month, before she relocated to Dubai full time.<\/p>\n
However, before Lohan hit the big time, she lived on Long Island with her mother, Dina, and her siblings Ali, Michael Jr., and Dakota.<\/p>\n
In 2018, the property in which the actress was raised was auctioned off after it was foreclosed upon, when her mother defaulted on a $1.3 million (AUD $1.85 million) loan she had taken out on the property, which was purchased in 2004 for $650,000 (AUD $926,000).<\/p>\n
