Her new comments also come amid continued attention surrounding O’Donnell’s move to Ireland and her ongoing criticism of US President Donald Trump, 80, with whom she has feuded publicly for years.

Asked whether she would return to the programme, O’Donnell said: “I would be up to guest host, but they haven’t asked me. So we’ll see what happens.”

She also reflected on Hasselbeck’s political views and her place in modern television.

O’Donnell said: “It’s interesting, in the time of Trump, I think she’s the perfect person they want on TV spouting their rhetoric, you know?”

The comedian later revisited one of the most famous moments from her time on The View – a heated on-air argument with Hasselbeck over the Iraq war in May 2007.

The confrontation became a defining moment in daytime television after producers switched to a split-screen shot showing both women as the exchange escalated.

Host Cohen asked: “Are you still annoyed that the director went to the split screen?”

O’Donnell replied: “Yeah, I’m still annoyed.

“Believe me. Mommy knows how to hold a grudge.”

The split-screen moment has remained a source of frustration for O’Donnell.

During a radio interview last year, she suggested the production decision had been planned in advance.

She said: “Our producer [was] not an on-the-fly kind of guy… he wouldn’t have been like, ‘Let’s go to a split-screen’. That was prepared.”

Following the fallout from the incident, O’Donnell asked to be released from her contract with ABC and departed the programme shortly afterwards.

She remains one of the most recognisable figures in American entertainment.

Alongside her work as a talk-show host, she is known for films including Sleepless in Seattle, A League of Their Own and The Flintstones, as well as The Rosie O’Donnell Show, which earned multiple Emmy Awards during its run.

In recent years, however, attention has increasingly focused on her political activism and long-running feud with Trump. The dispute intensified in July 2025 after Trump publicly suggested he would seek to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship, despite lacking the constitutional authority to do so.

O’Donnell responded in a post on Instagram, writing: “The president of the usa has always hated the fact that i see him for who he is – a criminal con man sexual abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself – this is why i moved to Ireland.”

She relocated to Ireland in January 2025 with her child Clay, now 14, after the 2024 US presidential election.

Despite the move, she is expected to return to the United States this summer to perform her one-woman Broadway show, Common Knowledge.

Her new comments also come amid continued attention surrounding O’Donnell’s move to Ireland and her ongoing criticism of…

[29
806,156,1964,12022,111,139,69,55982,5493,1527,13382,25962,223,61,437,9880,44194,6730
post-486744","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tv","tag-as","tag-entertainment","tag-guest","tag-host","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-odonnell","tag-open","tag-return","tag-returning","tag-rosie","tag-the","tag-to","tag-tv","tag-view","tag-willing","tag-would
["GET
