Aubrey Plaza praised NBC for not immediately cancelling \u201cParks & Recreation\u201d back in 2009, while announcing that Prime Video has decided not to move forward with \u201cKevin\u201d<\/a> after a single season on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazon Prime is not picking up \u2018Kevin\u2019 for another season,\u201d she shared on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cVery disappointing since we were just getting going. I want to say thank you to all the fans that watched our show and all of the incredible cast and crew that worked so hard to make this dream come alive\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember on the early days of \u2018Parks & Rec\u2019 when we all thought we would be cancelled because our ratings weren\u2019t great. Our numbers. But we had some special humans over at NBC that believed in the show and let us grow and let audiences fall in love with our characters,\u201d Plaza continued. \u201cI was hoping for this for \u2018Kevin\u2019 but sadly we are living in a different time in our industry. I hope the machines won\u2019t ruin everything. Maybe \u2018Kevin\u2019 will find a new owner someday. Love you all very much. Meow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plaza co-created the adult animated sitcom with Joe Wengert, and voiced her human character Dana amid the show\u2019s colorful cast<\/a> of pets \u2014 played by Jason Schwartzman, Amy Sedaris, Aparna Nancherla, Gil Ozeri, John Waters and Whoopi Goldberg, with guest stars like Patti LuPone, Joe Locke, Addison Rae and Jim O\u2019Heir.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so thrilled to be making this show with the insanely talented Jason Schwartzman,\u201d Plaza, Wengert and fellow EP Dan Murphy said in a statement<\/a> to TheWrap ahead of the April 20 premiere. \u201cAnd Jason writing and performing the \u2018Kevin\u2019 theme could be\u00a0the most iconic instance of a character singing his own theme song since \u2018Frasier\u2019 poisoned our minds and souls with his tossed salads and scrambled eggs.\u201d<\/p>\n
