court heard<\/a> there had been \u201csome occasions\u201d in the past where Robson had been violent to his partner.<\/p>\nOn the morning of May 6, the couple, who had been in a \u201cvolatile\u201d relationship for about five months, got into an argument.<\/p>\n
Al-Janabi said the argument resumed about 9am and became physical. At some point, she said Green grabbed a kitchen knife and plunged it into her partner\u2019s neck.<\/p>\n
The knife went \u201calmost\u201d 10cm into his neck, penetrating his chest area, and he began to bleed heavily. <\/p>\n
Al-Janabi said they both broke out of the sleepout and Green threw the knife among the equipment of her partner\u2019s makeshift gym, while Robson went to the main house on the property to get help.<\/p>\n
The occupants of the house remembered Robson saying something like \u201cthe fucking b**** did this\u201d while they attempted to stop the bleeding and called 111. <\/p>\n
They tried to keep the man talking but his condition was deteriorating and when the ambulance arrived, the first responders attempted to give him a blood transfusion and opened his chest.<\/p>\n
All of this was to \u201cno end\u201d, Al-Janabi said, as Robson\u2019s heart stopped and he died at the scene.<\/p>\n
The lawyer then returned to the subject of Green, who by then had left the sleepout and gone to see friends and family nearby, slowly divulging what had happened.<\/p>\n
First, she went to close family friend Sharon Manaia\u2019s house. Manaia shared family names with Green so the woman called her \u201cnamesake\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cNamesake, I\u2019ve f***ed up,\u201d the lawyer said Green confessed to Manaia.<\/p>\n
Manaia described Green\u2019s face as having a blood spatter that looked like freckles, Al-Janabi said.<\/p>\n
Manaia told her to shower and went out to get groceries, and the woman was gone by the time she returned.<\/p>\n
Green then went to a friend\u2019s house, where people were gathered, and told her cousin Jessica Tahere that Robson \u201cshouldn\u2019t have talked to her like her dad\u201d.<\/p>\n
She also claimed to have given her partner a \u201chiding\u201d the other week.<\/p>\n
Al-Janabi said Green told another friend at the gathering she had \u201cf***ed up\u201d and \u201cflipped her switch\u201d. She also allegedly told another relative that Robson had kicked her in the head, so she stabbed him in the throat.<\/p>\n

Al-Janabi told the court Green was back at Manaia\u2019s house the day after the stabbing and her friend convinced her to hand herself in to police.<\/p>\n
This was where Al-Janabi said Green told \u201ca number of different police officers a number of different things\u201d.<\/p>\n
She clutched her shoulder as if it was painful, claimed to one officer her partner had given her a hiding and told another he had hurt her shoulder and arm.<\/p>\n
The Crown and defence were in agreement on the fact Green\u2019s actions had killed her partner, but Al-Janabi said it was not in self-defence.<\/p>\n
She said a medical examination carried out on Green the day after Robson\u2019s death showed no cuts to her body, meaning her violence in response to any assault was \u201cexcessive\u201d.<\/p>\n
She also said Green had \u201cgambled with\u201d Robson\u2019s life by stabbing him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Crown says that when Ms Green stabbed Mr Robson … [she] either intended to kill him or she knew this was an act that could well kill him.\u201d <\/p>\n
In taking the risk to stab her partner, Green had committed murder, Al-Janabi concluded.<\/p>\n
Finally, the Crown lawyer addressed any \u201cprejudices and sympathies\u201d that might come up during the trial and asked the jury to put them aside.<\/p>\n
She said while Robson\u2019s serious wound could trigger an emotional response, so could the dead victim\u2019s history of violence towards Green and another former partner, as well as his gang ties.<\/p>\n
She asked the jury not to judge Robson\u2019s character during that evidence.<\/p>\n

Defence asks: \u2018What was life like for Ms Green?\u2019<\/p>\n
In her opening argument, Priest said it was up to the Crown to prove her client was not acting in self-defence against Robson.<\/p>\n
She said there was no dispute the man had been violent, and she asked that the jury consider what the \u201creality\u201d was like between the couple.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat was life like for Ms Green?\u201d she asked. \u201cWhat happened that day?\u201d<\/p>\n
Green didn\u2019t know and didn\u2019t foresee that in \u201cswinging\u201d at her partner with the knife she would seriously harm him, she said.<\/p>\n
She also asked the jury not to pre-judge her client before they had heard all the evidence.<\/p>\n
The trial continues.<\/p>\n
