The exhibition, which will remain on view through August 15, celebrates Smith\u2019s vibrant interpretation of Bermuda through a collection of richly textured landscapes and seascapes inspired by the Island\u2019s distinctive light, colour and atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnown for her bold and expressive brushwork, Smith captures the essence of Bermuda through an impressionistic style that combines layers of acrylic and oil paint with dynamic palette knife techniques. Beginning with loose plein air watercolour studies, she develops larger works that evoke the mood, energy and ever-changing character of the island.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBermuda\u2019s unique light, shadow and colour is intrinsic in my work, and each piece represents a different time, feeling and energy,\u201d says Smith.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said, \u201cSmith\u2019s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, and in 2019 she was selected as one of twelve artists commissioned to create a large-scale work for Bermuda\u2019s airport departure lounge. Bermuda Through My Palette brings together a body of work that reflects her deep connection to Bermuda and her ongoing exploration of colour, texture and place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to the opening reception, visitors are invited to attend an Artist Talk with Michele Smith on Tuesday, July 7, from 5:30\u20137:00 pm.
