{"id":490494,"date":"2026-06-22T21:24:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T21:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/490494\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T21:24:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T21:24:09","slug":"family-pays-tribute-to-red-beach-crash-victim-elva-ritchie-remember-her-faith-and-kindness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/490494\/","title":{"rendered":"Family pays tribute to Red Beach crash victim Elva Ritchie, remember her faith and kindness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cShe lived with a strong love and passion for her culture and was a true community-driven person who gave time and love to anyone within her vicinity due to her strong faith and love of God.<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cShe leaves a light that is lit that will continue to shine out from all their hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">The family also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and \u201ctruly loving words\u201d they had received in the days since the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThey\u2019d like to give a special thanks to the bystanders who rushed in without hesitation to aid her in her time of need.<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cIt warms their hearts to know her last moments were not alone and amongst a loving, caring community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">Several members of the public <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/one-person-seriously-injured-after-car-crashes-into-red-beach-building\/RZGVUDWR3ZF4LDYMNJJUD5TXWY\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/nz\/one-person-seriously-injured-after-car-crashes-into-red-beach-building\/RZGVUDWR3ZF4LDYMNJJUD5TXWY\/\">rushed to help<\/a> Ritchie at the scene of the accident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">An employee at Red Beach Kebabs told the Herald last week he had heard the sound of a \u201cbig crash\u201d and immediately ran to help the unconscious woman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cI held her hand and said, \u2018you\u2019ll be all right\u2019, but I don\u2019t think she heard me&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"KYZkfFLMYZDtBgBwd\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThe firefighters were incredible, they did everything they could.
